Turkish President Abdullah Gul: Israel let politics ruin relations.
Turkish President Abdullah Gul said Israel does not "have the ability to act rationally," Reuters reported on Tuesday.
Gul criticized Israel for abandoning its only Muslim ally in the Middle East, while speaking to Reuters reporters on his airplane. He added that political problems are stopping Israel from repairing relations with Turkey after the flotilla incident.
"As far as I can see, the internal political strife in Israel is very harsh. They undermine each other...they always block each other," Gul reportedly said. "It is important that everyone is aware of what kind of politics is going on there. My own impression is that they don't have the ability to act rationally."
"They don't have many friends in the region," the Turkish president told Reuters "Now it seems they want to get rid of the relationship with Turkey."
As for Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Dvutoglu's talks with Minister of Industry, Trade and Labor Binyamin Ben-Eliezer, Reuters reported that Gul said news of the secret meeting was leaked by those in Netanyahu's cabinet who wanted to prevent progress.
"There were those who were not happy with this, and the situation remains frozen," Gul said.
In response to IDF's raid on the Mavi Marmara, Turkey has demanded compensation for those injured, an apology, and an international inquiry.
Davutoglu has warned that Turkey would cut off ties with Israel if it did not apologize, and said that it doubts the Israeli inquiry is impartial.
Netanyahu and Lieberman have announced that Israel will not apologize.
