It occurs to me that if Global Warming is melting our polar icecaps that perhaps reduced weight of frozen ice on top of the continental plates is causing these plates to shift in adjustment. Ice Ages most definitely did deform the land beneath the ice sheets with their weight. When the ice sheets retreated the land beneath them is relieved of enormous weight and perhaps it is this weight loss that is triggering tectonic plate shifts causing our rash of large earthquakes. Then again it could be the end of the world but I don't think so....earth abides..
