Why "Communities for Peace" is a farce

Ellen Taylor often writes in our local papers promoting "peace" and "communities of peace" but her idea of "peace" means Leftist "peace" because every chance she gets she pushes the Leftist social war agenda such as she just did with her recent letter in the Northcoast Journal.

In total hypocrisy, she fans social war in Humboldt County while claiming to stand for "communities 0f peace". Like her political partner, Ken Miller, she is throwing gasoline on the community conflict over the EDP's killing of Chris Burgess in hopes of making the police look bad because the police in Humboldt County invariably side against political activists when activists break the law. It is textbook Leftist ideology to link police with capitalists so police are almost always targets for Leftist ideologues as is the case with Ms. Taylor and Mr. Miller.

But involving herself in the Leftist political war here in Humboldt County that divides our community instead of uniting it, Ms. Taylor makes a mockery of "peace communities". Real peace work requires lifting off the political blinders to ethical action. You can't represent peace and engage in social war at the same time.

Shane, you are young and naive about ethics. I sat and watched Ellen with Ken Miller attempt to sabotage our Bear River Heartlands project when she and Ken teamed up with 7th Generation in Arcata who we stupidly went to for funding help. She and Ken and perhaps you put politics above ethics and I will never support such even if Ellen and Ken agree with me on Zionism.

You went for the militant Leftist ideology at first, then toned it down, now trying to "liberalize" your Leftist stance but to me, having seen the Left in action for all my life, I want something else guiding social change because Leftist ideology is bankrupt--there is no Leftist ideological nation in the world that is fully functional . The ones that appear functional, e.g., China, Venzuela, are benefiting from capitalist market economies.

I want to be involved with lasting social change, not political change that itself will be overthrown when reaction sets in.

I give the analogy of the teacher with the world globe in his hands who tosses the globe to a front row student. The student catches the globe and the teacher asks, "Which hand did you use to catch and hold the world, the left or the right hand?" Student's answer is of course, "Both hands". And that is simple truth: it takes both Right and Left expressions of society to make a whole.

Become a Communitarian activist instead of making political war with your neighbors by choosing to reinforce those who are engaged in social warfare and dividing the community like Ellen Taylor with her political attack on the EPD.
